antique shadda cover karabagh southern caucasus

Antique Shadda (cover), Karabagh, Southern Caucasus.

Item Ref

A rare and magnificent flatweave called a 'Shadda', from the Karabagh region of the southern Caucasus - possibly even Shahsevan tribes. The cover is in original condition, bar a few tiny holes, and had been hanging in a London house for 20 years. Dating to circa 1850, the shadda contains four rows of camel caravans on migration. A truly fabulous and highly collectable flatweave.
Size: 2.06m x 1.98m (6' 9" x 6' 6").
Viewing by appointment only.
Internal Ref: BM/MJ
