Antique Salt-Bag, Baluch Nomads, Western Afghanistan.

| $999 USD | €850 EUR

Item Ref

Just arrived from Iran, this visually attractive salt-bag (namakdan) was woven by Baluch nomads on the border of western Afghanistan and eastern Persia circa 1900. Once used for containing rock-salt, the bag is in very good complete condition with only some minor staining on the plain-weave back. I love the simplicity of the zig-zag design - possibly symbolically representing flowing water.
Size: 54cm x 36cm (1' 9" x 1' 2").
Viewing by appointment only.
Internal Ref: BM/Namakdan
