Just in from Iran, this very understated salt-bag - 'namakdan' in Persian - woven in plain-weave and soumak technique, has a beautiful range of natural colours, such as dark and light-blue, turquoise, pea-green, madder-red, golden yellow, ivory and aubergine. The sides are bound in goat-hair and the back is woven in plain-weave technique.
Made by Bakhtiari nomads during the last quarter of the nineteenth century, the bag is in very good condition bar two small repairs in the bottom right and left corners.
Size: 60cm x 46cm (2' 0" x 1' 6").
