Description
This lovely old Turkmen rug, made by the Saryk tribe around 1900, has an abundance of cochineal-dyed silk throughout the field of guls and in the borders. I can only guess it was made for a wealthy Sariq tribesman with the use of so much, expensive silk.
In very good condition, the rug has been expertly washed and has a magnificent glow to the colours.
