Description
Beautifully balanced design of 'trees-of-life' rising upwards on a natural undyed, camel-ground field, from the underworld to the branches symbolising the world of the spirit.Made by the Yaqoub Khani Timuri during the last quarter of the 19th century, the rug is in excellent condition, albeit with some very tiny repairs, and is complete with its brocaded and slit-tapestry skirts at either end.
The wool quality is amazing, soft and silky, and this rug would make an amazing wall-hanging.
A truly beautiful prayer-rug which needs to be seen to fully appreciate the subtle natural colours.
