The Khamseh Confederacy and Qashqa'i tribes love of chickens can be seen in this beautiful and early rug from the Baharlu tribe, made circa 1870.Very finely knotted with a low-cut pile, the indigo-blue field comprises three central lozenges and a field full of stylised chickens!
