Description

Bread sofrehs, as the name implies, were used for kneading the dough before baking the flat bread (lavash).
This beautiful bread sofreh was made in the environs of Kamo in central Persia with natural undyed camel-hair, a myriad of symbols scattered throughout the field and beautifully brocaded skirts each end. To add to this, and rare to find, the sofreh has been dated in light-blue wool to 1317 in the Islamic calendar which translates to 1899 in the solar calendar.
This is a truly wonderful, early sofreh from Kamo and pieces like this are now incredibly scarce in Iran.
Size: 1.20m x 1.20m (4' 0" x 4' 0").
Viewing by appointment only.
