Description
This charming little dining sofreh was made by the Timuri - Sangtschuli tribe around the second half of the nineteenth century in the borderlands of north-eastern Persia and north-western Afghanistan.
Archaic in design, the natural, plain-weave camel-hair ground contains eight stylised trees and hidden amongst them is, what looks like, a small stylised 'dog'! The main border contains stylised four-petalled flowers and the skirts are complete in brocade.
Generally, this sofreh is in pretty good condition albeit with some minor wear in the camel-hair field as can be seen in the close-up photos and reflected in the very reasonable price tag.
Size: 1.35m x 0.65m (4' 5" x 2' 2").
Viewing by appointment only.
Internal Ref: BM/SOF

Height = 136 cm (54")
Width = 65 cm (26")
