Description
Once a storage-bag, but sadly missing its flatwoven back, this beautiful knotted-pile face, made by Jaf Kurds around 1880, has a stunning array of vegetable colours and soft, glossy wool. The early, deep, aubergine colour within the diamond lozenges has corroded due to the iron mordant used, but at the same time, this creates a wonderful three-dimensional effect to the overall symbolic design. Framing the field is an attractive, yet simple, ivory border and outside this, a rather beautiful main border with stylised flower-heads on madder-red.Size: 72cm x 49cm (2' 4" x 1' 7").
