Extremely finely knotted, this elegant rug was made by Afshar tribes in Kerman, southern Persia around 1860-1870. It is in very good condition with low-cropped woollen pile and a design of 2 stylized fish swimming around water-lilies in a water-garden - often referred to as the 'herati' pattern. The symbolic meaning of '2-fish' is happiness!
