Item Ref

A very attractive and beautifully woven Ru-Korssi (cover), made by Baluch tribes in the Khorassan area of north-east Persia, probably in the mid 20th century.
The quality of the work is masterful having a natural camel-hair ground with a stylised pre-Islamic cross in the centre surrounded by four 'trees-of-life'. The main border is superbly executed using a symbol often found in nineteenth century Timuri weavings.
Although there is a mix of natural and synthetic colours, it shows how this fine weaving can be found from the mid 20th century.
Size: 1.32m x 1.25m (4' 4" x 4' 1").
Viewing by appointment only.
