Antique Dining Sofreh, Timuri Tribes, Borderlands of Eastern Persia/Western Afghanistan.

| $1,931 USD | €1,661 EUR

Item Ref

The dining sofreh was the equivalent of a table-cloth in the West, but was spread out on the floor of the tent during mealtimes with bread, food and tea placed upon it. The nomads would then sit around the sofreh, cross-legged, and eat.
This beautiful dining sofreh, with its natural camel-hair field and long, intricately woven skirts, was made by Timuri nomads in the borderlands of eastern Persia and western Afghanistan around 1880. It is in excellent, complete condition with no repairs whatsoever.
