Antique Qashqa'i Rug, Shesh-Boluki Taifeh, Fars Province, South-West Persia.

Item Ref

Small rugs of the Qashqa'i tribes are scarce and this charming little rug is certainly one of those.
Made by the Shesh-Boluki sub-tribe (taifeh) of the Qashqa'i Confederacy around 1900, it contains two stylised 'scorpions' depicted within the central indigo-blue lozenges. Surrounding the blue lozenges is an outlining in coral with the main madder-red border containing family-unity symbols.
The rug is in excellent condition and retaining its attractive chevron end skirts.
Size: 1.24m x 0.82m (4' 1" x 2' 8").
Viewing by appointment only.
