Exceptional Qashqa'i rugs are not easy to find these days but when one comes along like this, then a dream come true!! Magnificent is the only way to describe this beautiful rug, made around 1880 by Qashqa'i tribes in Fars Province, south-west Persia.The triple 'scorpion' lozenges in the centre of the stunning indigo-blue field are a regular Qashqa'i symbolic pattern and surrounding these are lots of little stylised fish, swimming around water-lilies symbolising happiness - a water-garden design!
The rug is finely knotted and in excellent condition.
