Description
This beautiful 'tree-of-life' rug, with its beige/soft-yellow ground, was made by Bakhtiari tribes in the Chahar Mahal region of western Persia circa 1900.
The large urn has a tree or bush emanating upwards and outwards with two doves sitting on the branches and surrounded by a powerful and most attractive main border. If I am not mistaken, I would say that there is a very subtle depiction of a peacock on the very top of the tree?
In excellent overall pile, this is an extremely fine and elegant rug.
Size: 1.93m x 1.53m (6' 4" x 5' 0").
Viewing by appointment only.
Internal Ref: BM2047
Dimensions
Height = 193 cm (76")
Width = 153 cm (60")
Depth = 0 cm (0")
