Description
A charming bag, woven in relatively coarse soumak technique as one piece and then folded and sewn-up on one side. The vegetable colours comprise a carmine-red, orange-red, sky-blue with white cotton and goat-hair highlighting.Woven by Kuhi Afshars in the Jebal Barez mountains, Kerman Province, southern Persia circa 1900-1920, the bag is in excellent condition and is complete with very fine, braided, horse-hair tassels and cowrie shells symbolising good luck.
