Description
This is a magnificent spindle-bag made by Yomut Turkmen during the last quarter 19th century in the trans-Caspian steppes, Turkmenistan.The bag which comprises vertical rows of small 'guls' or tribal crests in knotted-pile on the face, is complete wth plain-weave back and braided cords attached to the sides and base which were originally used for hanging the bag on the camels and inside the yurts.
