A visually exciting example of Chahr Mahal Bakhtiari work comprising a beautifully-drawn 'tree-of-life' rising up from the underworld, through the earthly world and the branches in the world of the spirit. Birds sit atop the branches and symbolically represent the carriers of the soul. At the base of the tree, sit two handsome peacocks, symbols of immortality and divine protection. The rug is in excellent overall condition and the selvedges have been expertly replaced due to wear on the originals.
