Description
A rare and stunning small storage-bag or 'tubreh' made by a weaver who belonged to the Kordi tribes of Darreh Gaz in Khorassan Province, north-eastern Persia, circa 1900.The face is woven in weft-wrapping technique using the most fabulous, glossy, vegetable-dye wool which literally sings, and the back in narrow-coloured bands of plain-weave.
Today, these bags are extremely rare and I was lucky to receive it from a friend in Khorassan very recently, before the Israeli strikes and lockdown of shipping facilities in Iran.
A very collectable bag.
