Description

Private Collection just acquired.
Yet another absolutely incredible weaving! A dining sofreh woven by the Sangtshuli Timuri tribes circa 1870-1880.
The central undyed, natural camel-hair field comprises a myriad of small stylised shrubs woven in overlay/underlay brocading and surrounded by extremely finely-woven borders in weft-substitution technique.
Absolutely stunning are the brocaded skirts each end with an amazing and delicate use of green in the central top and bottom skirts - extremely rare in weavings of the Timuri tribes.
In excellent condition other than a small re-weave in the top left corner of the elem.
Size: 1.85 x 0.91m (6' 1" x 3' 0").
Viewing by appointment only.
Internal Ref: BM/SJ8
